I have a problem on my 79 fsb my lug nuts keep coming loose. I have a set of 15x8 aluimun wheels on it. I can run them up with my inpact set at 100psi drive it down the road and they come loose I can bring it back take a 4 way and a cheater pipe and really set on themand that might last a month or so then they are loose again.Someone please help.
Are you sure you have the right size lug nuts?
Well i would hope the company i ordered the wheels from would have sent me the right lugs there are 1/2 x 20
The type and shoulder size are critical. I don't know enough about them to lend advice, but I believe Post Hole is barking up the right tree.
You may want to check with the outfit that you bought your wheels and lugs from.
Cranking the lug nuts down is not a good idea either. Proper torque will ensure you are not deforming the metal.
^ x2 ,also with aluminum rims I have heard that you need to retorque them after so many miles
If all the wheels are doing this, then you may have the wrong lug nuts, the cone of the wheel may be different from the lugnut. if it is only one wheel, the pilot hole of the wheel may be worn or he wrong size, (this may be the case if all the wheels are loosening as well)this is a common prob with aftermarket rims. Also make sure the lugs are not bottoming out on the drum , or rotor
