My Grandpa has had this thing in his shop for years.
He let me have it because i already had one and figured i could use it.
Its a Realistic trc-430 40 Channel 2-way cb Radio.
Does anyone know if it would be worth taking the one in my truck out and installing this one.?
All i have now is a cobra 29-3 i Think its a wal-mart special.
Its a little bigger in size but thats all i know about it?

Any ideas about it???
Does yours work?
That is Radio Shack's brand. It's probably a perfectly good radio, but I can't imagine it being better than a 29.
I'm with Res. If yours ain't broke. . . .

Always good to have a spare.
The 29 is a good radio and hard to beat performance wise if itÂ’s been worked on at all. IÂ’ve never been very fond of the TRC-430; I donÂ’t like the channel buttons on the stock mic; but for its size itÂ’s a decent radio and is very easy to get 10 to 12 watts out of. In case you go with the TRC-430 I can show you how to turn up the modulation on it in about 5 minutes; just let me know.
I have a Cobra 19 in my jeep and CAN'T kill it. I have pressure washed my dash and that radio still works. Killed several cd player / radios but not the CB.

My point is Cobra is a good brand and I would stick with it.
Yeah mine works fine! I think it will be a good spare or if I need one for another rig. Thanks for the info everyone! I will keep that in mind on tunning it if I use it also!
Pick up a cheap magnet mount antenna.....if you have luck like mine no one you are wheeling with will have a radio and you can lend it out. lol

Careful on turning up the modulation to much if you have a noisy rig folks you are talking to may hear it more than you, also if you are using the radio for bumper to bumper communications it will be easy to over drive your neighbors receive making you sound distorted. Always try em like they are before making adjustments. Thats the good thing about having a radio with RF Gain if someone in your group is over driving your receive you can cut it back to understand them better.

I kinda like doing the CB thing almost as much as I like slinging mud...
