apparently built for racing, but wouldn't they work off road?

I don't like the big fat rings that are the fad now.
they will work but the outer ring is pretty thin. and from what i've heard they will bend easily when hit on a rock or root etc
and the reason most of the weld on beadlocks have a wide ring is to keep the rings from bending or coning. you can get some quality ones that have a smaller ring though.
I don't know what is the price different at you, but here every racer use this: http://www.staunproducts.com/beadlock.php
excellent invention
Yes, the Stauns are great. They run about $170 each.

Weld ons run about $230-250 for a set.

I'm looking at weld ons to add a little width to some stock steel rims.

There is a guy on Mobile Jeep Club with some free jeep rims. (my price range)

That would be true.... but I don't plan on putting the little yellow Jeep in any really knarly situations.
then why do you want beadlocks? and using stock jeep wheels isn't a great idea either. most of them have alot of backspacing so you'll run into clearance issue with larger tires. especially when turning
Well, I don't know. It just seems like a cool thing to do.

One of my hair-brained ideas.Jester

maybe this is the motto of the offroad.AgentV
We make a set of bead locks. If you do not like the bigger rings I know Chris can make you a pair that you would like. Not sure how much they are though, but that is just an idea.
